Yaron and Amy: “Pragmatism & Arbitrary Power” TODAY at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT)

Last night, Tucker Carlson continued to defend his view that government should intervene so as to encourage and support “strong independent families.” There appears to be no rhyme or reason to the decisions being made as to how to spend government funds during the partial shutdown. Trump, in a revealing tweet, bemoans the fact that the economy could be even stronger (his view), if he had only “had long term ZERO interest rates to *play with* like the past administration.” These examples reveal a shift toward government that increasingly wields arbitrary power. “Trump Calls for Affirmative Action in Trade,” TODAY at 3 p.m. ET (12 p.m. PT)
