Interview with Ladar Levison, Founder of Lavabit (Snowden email provider), Today at 12 p.m. PT (3 p.m. ET) (interview in 2nd hour)

Today’s first hour will be the usual discussion of some of the news of the week. In the second hour, I’ll be interviewing Ladar Levison, founder of Lavabit, Edward Snowden’s email provider. I’ll ask him about his legal battle with the government over his refusal to turn over Lavabit’s encryption keys, his decision to shut down his company and the inspiration for it, the technology behind email encryption and his plans for Dark Mail, a new end-to-end encrypted email service.
